The Structural Engineering discipline of elders consulting engineers is now well established and thriving after 5 years existence. As well as undertaking commissions in tandem with our Building Services teams we have successfully provided various stand alone Structural Engineering services to a whole variety of clients and architects. The core structural staff are backed up by the company's administrative staff and shared CAD resources

SUDS

Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) are management practices and physical structures designed to drain surface water in a more sustainable way than conventional systems.

Many existing urban drainage systems cause problems of flooding, pollution or damage to the environment and are not sustainable. Elders practice Sustainable Urban Drainage (SUDS) and consider long term environmental and social factors when designing drainage. We aim to:

• Manage runoff flow rates, reducing the impact of urbanisation on flooding
• Protect or enhance water quality
• Be sympathetic to the environmental setting and the needs of the local community
• Provide a habitat for wildlife in urban watercourses
• Where appropriate encourage natural groundwater recharge
